Home Tour - My Office/Den

I wanted to share my office/den with you today. If you followed my old blog, Nikki's Nacs, you have seen this room several times over the years. It is the room in our home that has taken us the longest to get a feel for how to best use the space. It has changed many times, but I think we are almost there. The room is not done, but it is getting really close.

This room is the most used room in our house. The room has an entrance from the garage, from the back yard, and you have to walk through this room to get to our kitchen, the main bathroom, and the master bedroom. It's a busy place.

We recently switched several rooms in our home around and my office landed in the middle of this room. I still haven't really utilized all of the bookshelf storage just yet, but I am still trying to get a handle on where I think everything needs to go.

We are a family that homeschools, so we sit on the love seat every morning for Bible, to review Spelling words, and to read our Health and History lessons. You can also usually find Henry on the couch with a laptop watching a Leap Frog video while Cade and I are working on other lessons in the dinging room.

I didn't include a closeup picture of the gallery wall above the love seat because it really needs some work. It's on my list of things to do, but it keeps getting pushed down the list. I really just need some new pictures for the frames, and then need to do something with the blank canvas.

My desk area has quickly become one of my favorite places. The desk is from Target, and the bookshelves are from a hand-me-down entertainment center that used to be in our living room. The cabinet on the right holds the boy's hats, sunglasses, Bibles, and things that they need to grab before heading out the door. The drawer is my husband's drop zone. It is nice to have the closed storage by the back door since we don't have a mudroom or separate entry.

Here are some close up pictures of things on the shelves.

I keep a good selection of pencils, pens, and highlighters handy for our school days.

I like to keep my Erin Condren Planners close. I use them all multiple times a day. (You can see a my review of the Erin Condren Teacher Planner used as a Homeschool Planner HERE. I also have a discount code on my side bar for new customers if you are interested.) They are pretty, so I don't mind them being out in the open.

This flamingo is my favorite accessory. My sister gave it to me for Christmas that past year. My mom loved flamingos, so I like to have them around. They are a sweet reminder of her.

Don't be fooled by these pictures. There are usually school papers, books, headphones, and random toys on the various surfaces throughout the day.

Please let me know in the comments if you would be interested in a list of paint colors or a source list.
